Served Like A Girl is a documentary film chronicling the lives of female veterans as they compete for the crown of Ms. Veteran America.

The quest for the crown of Ms. Veteran America is a competition like no other. It brings together a sisterhood of female military veterans, each with her own story to share.

Served Like A Girl documents several female veterans on their quest to take the crown in the 2015 Ms. Veteran America competition in Las Vegas. With evening gown and talent sections, it might seem like a traditional pageant, but it doesn’t take long to see how different this competition truly is. For months before they meet up in Vegas to compete for the crown, our contestants are tasked with raising money and awareness for homeless female veterans, a population that is bigger today than it has ever been, and which many of the MVA contestants have counted themselves among.

Every woman in the competition has overcome incredible challenges. Some joined the military because they were lost, and some gained a stronger and more stable identity within the military. But many, once they leave, find themselves lost all over again, and at risk of falling apart.
